I had a blast playing "celebrity server" at the Kookin'
for Kids fundraiser for the St. Vincent Home for Children
last night. I got to hang with two very fun volunteers, Mariya
and Julia, and we served healthy food from Whole Foods (Vegan
Sonoma Chicken Salad, fruit, and wheat crackers). We were
right across from the brewery dudes giving out beer and the
pulled pork people, which made for a nice balance! Talked
to several lovely folks from the St. Louis media that I'm
acquainted with (columnist Bill McClellan and books editor
Jane Henderson, both from the Post-Dispatch), and I met others
that I didn't know. A fabulous woman named Vivien and her
darling friend Jeane approached excitedly as Vivien happened
to be reading THE COUGAR CLUB and had it in her car! She brought
it into the event for me to sign, and we took a few pics Loved
that! Ed bought his height in raffle tickets, which ended
up winning him a strand of pearls and Tiffany glass bowl (he
gave them to me, awww!). He also bid on a concrete bird bath,
which we need in our backyard, and he got it! That sucker
is heavy, though!!! Thanks to Nikki and Marie Furrer for inviting
me. I had a ball!
