If you think that life—and romance—end at forty…think again!

Meet three women who aren’t about to run and hide, just because the world says they should be on the shelf and out of circulation:

Kat Maguire: her life seems perfect until she loses her high-powered advertising job and catches her live-in lover in a compromising position—with his computer!

Carla Moss: this sexy TV news anchor is in danger of being replaced by a twenty-something blond bimbo. Wasn’t it just yesterday that she was the up and coming star?

Elise Randolph: a married dermatologist, Elise thinks her plastic surgeon husband is playing doctor with someone else.

Kat firmly believes that aging gracefully isn’t about giving up; it’s about living life with your engine on overdrive. So this unofficial “Cougar Club” quickly learns three things about survival of the fittest in today’s youth-obsessed society: true friendship never dies, the only way to live is real, and you’re never too old to follow your heart.

"Funny and irreverent. Fans of The First Wives Club and Sex & the City will love this!"
~ USA Today bestselling author Pamela Morsi

"Susan McBride delivers her trademark 'can't put it down' storytelling with style, sex, and humor. The Cougar Club will charm you and surprise you, right up to the last page."
~ Harley Jane Kozak, Award-winning author of A Date You Can't Refuse

Publishers Weekly: They are middle-aged, hear them roar. And so they do, this trio of 40-something careerists and lifelong BFFs-Kat, an out-of-work and out-of-love New York advertising exec; Carla, a St. Louis anchorwoman who's protecting her turf from an invading bimbo; and Elise, a successful dermatologist wife and mom who's undone by her empty nest and empty sex life. Kat's abrupt job loss sends her running home to St. Louis, which triggers a reunion of the three friends and prompts their rediscovery of each other and the awakening of their inner cougars. In the process, the gals rifle through a slew of good-looking young hunks in the search for love and meaningful employment. The journey is full of curves and detours…. [McBride] puts together a good-old-girls club with characters who are smart and insatiable, and who like their men young, athletic, and accommodating. It may not be likely, but it sure is a fun fantasy.

Romantic Times Book Reviews Magazine: McBride attacks the double standards women face in a youth-obsessed society with style and humor. She's created three equally likable, accomplished women....each woman learns that aging gracefully doesn't mean throwing in the towel.

Booklist: Three girlhood friends are reunited at age 45 when Kat Maguire is fired from her New York advertising job, dumps her younger but wealthier boyfriend, and returns to St. Louis. Her two best friends, Carla Moss, the number-one news anchor in St. Louis, and Elise Randolph, successful dermatologist and empty nester, are facing their own issues with aging. Carla's ex-husband, who is also her boss, is trying to replace her with his latest perky young girlfriend despite Carla's on-air popularity, and Elise's plastic surgeon husband seems never to come home, claiming to be spending all his time with the partner in his practice. As the three talented, attractive, vibrant women reinvent themselves, they find a slew of younger men who find them enticing. Despite some romance and a traditional romantic conclusion for one of the protagonists, this is more chick-lit than romance with brand names, designer shoes, and the power of female friendship at the forefront.

Midwest Book Review: This is a fun tale of three women seeking their groove as middle age has each wondering if that's all there is to life….The characters are solid, including the supporting cast, and the rotating point of view enhances the understanding of what each wants.

RomanceJunkiesReviews.com: This tale of joy and heartbreak with its well-drawn characters and original plot is a delight. I absolutely loved it. I enjoy all of author Susan McBride's books. She writes with humor and feeling. I highly recommend The Cougar Club for anyone looking for an extraordinary read.

TheBookZombie.com: At first I thought that The Cougar Club would be the typical fluffy chick lit novel, but within 20 pages or so I realized that was not the case. While it is a light and at times very funny story, it is by no means fluff….Overall this was a terrific book that I plan to pass along to one of my own close girlfriends, and I will be looking forward to checking out more from this author in the future.
